Sop Bread

Picture
What?  Sop Bread?  Yes, because you want to sop your plate with it! That is a very old southern phrase I heard my granddaddy say a lot growing up.  He'd tell grandma her food was so good he had to sop his plate out.
3 Cups Self-Rising Flour
2 Tbsps. Sugar
12 oz Can Beer (your choice)

Yep, that's it.  Just three ingredients. (On a side note, way back in the old days, the ol' timers made their beer, and grandma didn't tell you what is in the bread.)

So put the flour and sugar into a mixing bowl and slowly pour in beer.  Beat 1 minute only.  Pour into greased bread pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 75 minutes.  Bread is done when toothpick inserted comes out clean.

" I can tell you that you might as well go ahead and bake two, one won't last before it gets cool."
